Merthyr Tydfil Ramblers
As part of the Ramblers Association we campaign for conservation and improved access to the countryside.
Locally, we help promote and upgrade walk routes, campaign to protect rights of way that are under threat and organise guided walks.
There are many walks nearby, most are perfect for families with children. For lovers of quiet lanes, Outdoor Retreats is an ideal base for any activity break or holiday. And if you want to walk long distance, there’s that too.
There are different routes to suit all tastes and abilities.
Whether you decide to take a route down the Taff Trail, or one of our lesser known routes, the fact that you can walk through the countryside in Merthyr Tydfil is one of our best kept secrets.
There are few places in Wales that can beat the Brecon Beacons for the beauty of its landscape – from wild rugged mountains to remote moorland and gentle wooded valleys.
The National Park means many different things to the people who live, work in and visit the area.
The National Park has its own history and heritage, and its own cuisine, traditions, myths and culture.eacons
